About Us

The company was founded in 1985 by a family devoted to the world of wine for generations. The average age of the vines currently present is about 30 years, which allows the production of white wines with intense and persistent aromas and full-bodied, well-structured red wines.

As a witness to their love for traditions and territory, nine rows of Pinot Grigio planted in 1930 still exist and produce. Over the years, the business grew until it comprised 15 hectares of vineyards. The annual production is about 70,000 bottles and the entire production cycle, from the vine to the bottle, is personally taken care of by the Padroggi family. The Padroggi family has been dedicated to viticulture and winemaking for generations. The company’s founder Luigi, and his sons Gabriele and Mario started this important project, dedicating their lives to its growth. Recently, the third generation of winemakers, young Enrico and Luca, joined their fathers, taking over many technical, productive and commercial activities. Their intention is to continue the process begun by their grandfather, always bringing new ideas and supporting a more ethical and sustainable approach to winemaking… a proper GENERATION (R)EVOLUTION. The Padroggi family awaits you every day, to taste their wines.
You can enjoy carefully selected cured meats and local produce.

Territory
The area known as Oltrepò Pavese is
a triangular territory in southern Lombardia, wedged between Piemonte, Liguria and Emilia Romagna. It is home to approximately 12,000 hectares of vineyard and falls under the administration of the Province of Pavia.

The name literally means ‘area of the province Pavia that lies beyond the river Po’. The rolling hills of the Oltrepò form a beautiful landscape and are the third largest vine growing area in Italy, with many well-known, traditional, local grape varieties. The varied nature of the land, the vicinity of the sea and the presence of numerous rivers and brooks influences the climate, which is mild and temperate, with excellent variations in temperature during the day, above all in the summer. The soils are varied and mixed: marl, calcareous sandstone and chalk, but also sand and clay. All these characteristics make the Oltrepò Pavese highly suited to the growing of Pinot Noir (almost 3,000 hectares) and the production of sparkling wines made from this noble grape. Other important varieties in the history of this region are Riesling and Bonarda, two grapes that in this district give wines with a clear identity and personality. The territory of the Oltrepò lies on the 45° north latitude, the famous “parallel of wine” which runs through the most prestigious areas dedicated to oenology, including Piemonte, Bordeaux and Oregon.

Organic Farming
After many years of cultivation with low environmental impact, since 2005 it has been possible to certify wines as “organic”.

Organic farming is a type of agriculture that has two closely related objectives: to safeguard the health of the Earth, and at the same time that of its inhabitants that eat agricultural products.
Organic farming is therefore synonymous with clean and healthy agriculture: it entails eliminating pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers from chemical synthesis at all stages of manufacture, production, processing and storage of the product.
Due to this attention to nature, a genuine, natural and healthy product is obtained that allows the rediscovery of true aromas and flavours of wine.
The entire surface of the farm is governed by Regulation EC 834/2007 and certified by BIOS, controlling entity on organic products authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Our wines contain minimum levels of sulphites, this is due to the fact that we always get extremely healthy grapes of very good quality. The result is a fruity, genuine wine, naturally rich in flavours and aromas.
From 2015 our wines are also certified suitable for vegans.

Chi Siamo

OUR WINES

Tradizione 1985

This range of wines encompasses the history of winemaking in the Oltrepò Pavese, concentrating on the historical local grapes.
The result is a generous and genuine wine, the perfect accompaniment for everyday meals.

Piota

The wines in this range combine old and new; history and research; tradition and innovation. The use of traditional Oltrepò grape varieties and innovative vinification techniques accentuates the unique qualities of our terroir.

RISERVA LUIGI PADROGGI

The wine that epitomises our production, dedicated to the founder: Luigi Padroggi.
“Don Luigi” is the essence of our Moscato grapes, which are allowed to dry naturally and pressed by hand using an antique wine press.

89/90

Third generation wines, looking towards the future but with strong roots in the past. The grapes come from celebrated international vines, processed with care, combining the traditional oenological skills of the Oltrepò with vinification techniques from some of the most famous winemaking areas of the world.

Sparkling Wines

The only grape variety used in this range is the noble Pinot Noir, because we consider it ideal to express all the potential of our territory in production of sparkling wines. Intense, structured and characterful perlage.

MISundertanding

Our ‘minimum intervention’ range. Chameleonic wines that say something… and then they do the opposite. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand them, but they are always genuinely authentic. We have learnt that really amazing things can happen from a misunderstanding…

2 Calici

A rather unusual 50cl bottle that contains exactly two glasses of wine. A white wine and a red wine perfect to be shared during a fantastic take-away dinner, or a refreshing Summer picnic. A bottle easier to be carried around, and with a “lighter” price. Two wines made from indigenous grape varieties, incredibly fresh, easy-drinking and with moderate alcohol content. Drinking 2Glasses has never been easier!
